Kenny Ratton, Radiant CFO, Presents a Discussion on RFID in IT Environments on 3-6-14

Kenneth Ratton, Radiant RFID co-founder and chief financial officer, will present a discussion on RFID technology in IT environments on Thursday, March 6, 2014 to the Austin chapter of Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP), a national professional association of CIOs, IT managers, senior staff, academics, vendors, and consultants.

With millions of IT assets tracked and managed every day through Radiant’s proprietary RFID solution, Ratton brings a vast set of practical insight into selecting and deploying RFID systems in data-intensive environments. The discussion will cover a brief overview of modern RFID technology, best practices for selecting and deploying an RFID system, active versus passive RFID in IT environments, and what’s on the RFID technology horizon.

AHRN T3 App in Action

RFID Triage Treatment Transport On March 7, 2014, Radiant team members had the pleasure of participating with the City of Corpus Christi Fire Department and Office of Emergency Management in a mass casualty exercise at the city airport. The event focused on first response to a plane crash with numerous "victims" in states of Triage, Treatment and Transport.


If you recall the San Francisco airplane crash last year, you may remember seeing the different colored tarps where victims are organized by severity of their injuries. The Corpus Christi exercise was laid out the same way, and first responders used Radiant's T3 iPhone and Android app to more quickly and accurately process victims as they moved through the phases of treatment and release.


Although it was exciting to see our app "in action", it brings home a sense of who we are and why we love our work. Using today's technology to assist responders, emergency managers - and ultimately, victims -- of disasters is at our core. Over the past six years we have had the opportunity to work with several state and local emergency managers to better handle movement of people when time is of the essence. We look forward to future opportunities and partnerships with our amazing AHRN customers. 

NEW: VAT 5.2.2 Released Today

We are pleased to announce a major upgrade for Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT) was released Monday, December 16th, 2013. Hosted customers automatically received the update on RFID handhelds and Web Asset Manager.

The new version features significant speed and performance enhancements along with new features and an optional module. Customers will experience:

  • Significant increase in performance of the Find feature of Mobile Asset Tracker.
  • Significant increase in synchronization speed of Mobile Asset Tracker when uploading inventory data to server.
  • Improved import speed in Web Employee Manager
  • Improved performance of integration services significantly decreases the time required to import assets via the Web services API
  • Mobile Storekeeper - Customers can now add a person during checkout via magstripe reader or keyboard entry. Mobile Storekeeper now supports background synchronization to ensure the VAT server contains up-to-the-minute data.
  • Usability enhancements to Web Asset Manager, VAT Portal, and Online Asset Transfer.

Users can now toggle between normal Inventory and Asset Status Check. Doing so removes the 'seen' icon from assets that have already been inventoried, enabling users to conduct multiple "spot checks" at the same location.


  • Maintaining a full audit trail of assets is now faster and easier with Centralized Receiving & Delivery. Using an RFID handheld and location tags, asset and property managers can:
  • Verify that the delivery of assets physically occurred at a specific location.
  • Capture the delivery time, date and user delivering or receiving assets.
  • Limit the set of data accessible to the user making or accepting the delivery to those assets in designated "warehouse" locations.
  • View delivery information for each asset.

Austin ISD Selects Radiant RFID for Asset Management

Austin Independent School District (AISD), Texas’ fifth largest school district, selected Radiant RFID’s technology to RFID-enable the district’s asset management system. The move empowers campus administrators to directly manage and audit campus inventory of high tech equipment quickly and accurately with less effort than traditional barcode systems.


As school districts adopt technology for students and classrooms, keeping up with equipment becomes increasingly critical. AISD will utilize Radiant’s asset management solution to manage locations of their highly diverse and mobile inventory of laptops, tablets, smartboards, and other classroom assets. The solution directly integrates with AISD’s existing asset software via Radiant’s web services API giving them real time visibility into asset location and movement.
