Radiant RFID Awarded Asset Management Contract for New York’s Borough of Manhattan Community College

NEW YORK, New York – The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), the largest college in the City University of New York system, selected Radiant RFID’s Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT) to better track and manage its highly diverse and mobile assets.

As educational institutions accelerate technology adoption, keeping up with devices and equipment becomes increasingly critical. By RFID-enabling BMCC’s asset management system, administrators can inventory campus assets quickly and accurately with far less effort than legacy barcode systems.

Virtual Asset Tracker is an end-to-end RFID solution that features web-based modules for asset tracking, departmental transfers, notifications, and custom reporting. Many customers use the Automated Import and Export Tool and the Web Services API to integrate Virtual Asset Tracker to ERP systems including Oracle, SAP, SunGard, and others. Radiant’s smart device application, VAT2GO, can be used on any iOS or Android device and allows users to utilize existing hardware for better asset tracking and asset management.

During an audit, VAT quickly reports what assets are assigned to, located within, or missing from a room. This information enables administrators to quickly and accurately reconcile inventory and account for item movement from room to room, building to building, and even campus to campus -- saving time and money while fostering a philosophy of reuse.

BMCC will implement the solution campus-wide to perform regular audits and “spot checks” throughout the year as well as improve the security and visibility into mobile assets. The project was awarded through Radiant’s GSA contract.

Radiant’s customers use VAT to track and manage over four million dynamic items every day. Kenneth Ratton, Radiant chief financial officer, said, “With broad experience serving large organizations, colleges, and universities, we are qualified to meet complex challenges unique to large educational organizations. We’re excited to bring our knowledge and experience to BMCC.”

Chicago Public Schools Selects Radiant RFID’s Virtual Asset Tracker

rfid asset tracking solutionsCHICAGO, Ill. (February 25, 2013) – Chicago Public Schools (CPS), the nation’s third largest school district serving over 402,000 students, has selected Radiant RFID, LLC to implement Virtual Asset Tracker (VAT), the company’s RFID-based enterprise asset management solution that will manage the school district’s highly diverse and mobile inventory of more than $450 million in capital and controlled assets.

“During the RFP process, Radiant proved to be the best suited among competitors to solve complex asset management challenges across many campuses and we look forward to working with them as we begin to implement the solution within Chicago Public Schools,” said Peter W. Rogers, chief financial officer at Chicago Public Schools.

By automating data collection, RFID technology greatly reduces human effort and error. Radiant is currently working with Chicago Public Schools to replace its current bar code system with an RFID solution for approximately 100,000 assets at 200 campuses while upgrading data visibility district-wide. Radiant’s solution will ultimately encompass all 650+ campuses in the district.

VAT, a complete solution consisting of UHF Gen 2 RFID technology and Radiant software, will enable CPS to accurately report expected and exact locations of large numbers of mobile assets, including technology, video, AV and kitchen equipment, and furniture, instruments, and vehicles.

VAT automates detailed reporting of asset location and ownership. The solution will present this data in many formats to all CPS departments, including accounting and finance, information technology, property management, and administration. Users will be able to create custom reports and view system dashboards to make better decisions for the utilization of assets.

Kenneth Ratton, Radiant RFID executive vice president, said, “Radiant's solution is specifically targeted at customer like CPS with highly complex tracking problems, extremely large numbers of items, and diverse locations. Having successfully deployed customers such as FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety, covering millions of items worth billions of dollars, we are confident that CPS will realize the benefits of our end-to-end approach quickly.”

Designed specifically for educators, Radiant’s K-12 Solutions encompass IT asset tracking, student attendance reporting, mustering, and bus ridership. They can be deployed as individual solutions or an integrated suite leveraging a single infrastructure investment.

AUSTIN, Texas (March 4, 2013) – Austin Independent School District (AISD), Texas’ fifth largest school district, selected Radiant RFID’s technology to RFID-enable the district’s asset management system. The move empowers campus administrators to directly manage and audit campus inventory of high tech equipment quickly and accurately with less effort than traditional barcode systems.

As school districts adopt technology for students and classrooms, keeping up with equipment becomes increasingly critical. AISD will utilize Radiant’s asset management solution to manage locations of their highly diverse and mobile inventory of laptops, tablets, smartboards, and other classroom assets. The solution directly integrates with AISD’s existing asset software via Radiant’s web services API giving them real time visibility into asset location and movement.

During an audit, Radiant’s solution quickly reports what assets are assigned to, located within, or missing from a classroom. This information allows administrators to quickly and accurately reconcile inventory and account for item movement from room to room, building to building, and even campus to campus, thus saving the district time and money while fostering a philosophy of reuse.

Kenneth Ratton, Radiant RFID executive vice president, said, “We are excited to work with Austin ISD and look forward to providing immediate value by RFID enabling the management and inventory all of their assets. As our solution continues to be adopted by large school districts across the United States, we anticipate adding further value with our fully integrated suite of products for attendance, bus ridership, asset management, and safety.”

Radiant has participated onsite with AISD throughout the entire evaluation process to confirm optimal RFID tag selection and placement on a wide variety of classroom assets. With the help of Radiant’s rapid deployment services, the district will implement the solution district-wide to perform regular audits and “spot checks” throughout the year.

Designed specifically for educators, Radiant’s K-12 Solutions encompass asset tracking, student attendance reporting, emergency management, and bus ridership. Each of these solutions can be deployed individually or as an integrated suite leveraging a single infrastructure investment.

Bayer HealthCare Awards Employee Evacuation Project to Radiant RFID

AUSTIN, Texas (April 16, 2013) – Bayer HealthCare selected Radiant RFID, LLC’s Mustering Solution to enhance safety and security for over 2,500 employees, visitors and contractors at its Hanover, NJ facility. The project takes place in conjunction with Bayer’s facilities upgrade.

Radiant’s Employee Mustering Solution delivers accurate location data during the critical initial moments of a crisis. In the event of an emergency, evacuation managers can more quickly discover who is missing from assembly areas and deliver real-time, “last-seen” personnel data to first responders without requiring individual badge swipes or manual checklists.

Radiant will RFID-enable Bayer’s existing proximity-based access system with new UHF-HF integrated identification badges, proprietary iOS mobile mustering application, fixed Motorola RFID readers at key ingress and egress points, and Motorola handheld readers for mobile mustering.

In typical building evacuation scenarios, managers are unable to determine who is missing until completing headcounts, comparing lists and interviewing other employees. By automating last-seen location data ─ including out-of-office status ─ Radiant’s solution delivers accuracy while reducing eyewitness error in times of duress.

The Employee Mustering Solution is built on the company’s flagship All Hazard Response Network, an RFID-based disaster management system that has successfully aided statewide evacuation and reunification of over 45,000 evacuees with their loved ones since 2005.

Kenneth Ratton, Radiant RFID executive vice president, said, “Our core mission is to deliver new ways for RFID technology to help improve safety and reunification in the critical times of emergency. We look forward to putting this experience to work for Bayer.”

Radiant’s solutions help solve complex asset management challenges for customers in corporate, educational, government, and non-profit organizations. They can be deployed as individual solutions or an integrated suite leveraging a single infrastructure investment.

Radiant Releases First Responder Location Reporting for 2013 Hurricane Season

rfid employee evacuation

AUSTIN, Texas – Radiant RFID’s Responder Tracking Solution, a newly released component of the award-winning All Hazard Response Network platform, is being released for the 2013 U.S. hurricane season that begins this week. The solution delivers real-time, actionable data that enables responders, emergency managers, and incident commanders to make decisions with greater speed and accuracy than traditional methods.

Managing police, fire, EMS, and public works locations and assignments becomes increasingly complex as an event’s scope expands. During a statewide hurricane, for example, thousands of first responders and public works personnel are activated to support evacuation and sheltering. Radiant’s solution provides responders and emergency operations managers with an RFID-enabled system that improves speed and accuracy of responder check-in, movement history, and critical last-seen location information.

The solution replaces manual check-in and location assignment activities with a combination of RFID and GPS technology deployed via the web and smart devices, including iOS and Android phones and tablets. It is built on the foundation of Radiant’s All Hazard Response Network, a statewide, RFID-based emergency management system.

Emergency operations managers at jurisdiction and state levels achieve accurate, real-time situational awareness throughout major events and agency-level personnel reports post-event, improving reimbursement accuracy for both responders and volunteers.

The solution can be deployed to individual jurisdictions, regionally or by activation if called upon at a statewide level if the state is subscribed to the All Hazard Response Network, Radiant’s internationally award-winning RFID emergency response management platform that RFID-enables evacuation and sheltering management.

Successfully utilized during Hurricanes Alex, Ike, Gustav, Rita, and Sandy, Radiant RFID’s All Hazard Response Network has supported statewide evacuation and reunification of over 45,000 people and pets with their loved ones since 2004.
