Organizations have always struggled to keep track of their assets. Finding and accounting for assets both is labor and time intensive. Not knowing the disposition of items leads to redundant purchases, lost time, and lower productivity. The evolution of RFID asset tracking technology has made taking an inventory faster and more efficient. In the beginning, metal ID plates allowed personnel to easily identify key items. Of course you still had to read them and human error in data capture limited their effectiveness. The ubiquitous barcode automated the process and allowed people to scan individual items using a handheld scanner. The drawbacks to this technology are that you can only read one bar code at a time and require line of sight to each item.
Radio Frequency Identification is an identification technology that allows the collection of large amounts of data using radio frequency technology. RFID tags contain a small chip and antenna and are programmed with a unique EPC number. RFID readers capture and compile the tag data and the Radiant software puts all the information in a format that is easy to use for all levels within the organization. Compared to barcodes, RFID is exponentially faster as multiple tags can be read at one time and reading tags does not require line of sight.
Unfortunately, items get moved or disposed of without proper documentation. Over time this affects inventory accuracy. Radiant RFID answers the question “Where is that?” with minimal human involvement and high accuracy rates.Radiant RFID’s Virtual Asset Tracker, powered by the RadiantONE Software Platform, keeps track of expected location and exact location of all types of assets. Radiant’s VAT supports active and passive RFID tags, fixed and mobile handheld RFID scanners, and the RadiantONE software platform maximizes value through robust reporting and analytics - with a software interface that is easy to configure and use.
Radiant’s solutions are used at universities, state and local government, federal agencies, and Fortune 500 businesses around the country. Organizations struggle to keep up with IT assets, equipment, supplies, furniture, and other capital items. Radiant RFID uses Radio Frequency Identification technology to automate the tracking and management of assets in a wide variety of environments and situations.
Choosing a solution that fits your organization is a difficult decision. That’s why we built VAT to support older technologies such as bar code and allow for organizations to migrate to RFID on their own timetable. Many of our customers had started with an asset tracking solution in place using barcodes or spreadsheets. We import existing asset data and make it easy to associate RFID to existing items which provides our customers the ability to move at their desired pace.
Radiant RFID recognizes that many organizations have an existing solution for financial asset tracking - one that calculates amortization, depreciation and other financial functions but does not do a good job capturing item location. We offer seamless integration to modern database systems such as Oracle, SAP and SunGard and can import and export data to these systems right out of the box. Our application “RFID enables” existing applications and feeds data where needed to increase value and provide up- to- date accurate information.
Virtual Asset Tracker has an easy to use computer interface. With flexible user defined fields, VAT displays data that is relevant to the end user. Reporting includes Total Inventory, Exception Reporting, Matching Reporting, and Lost Inventory and offers flexibility in the configuration of reports.
